WORLD BANK'S POVERTY AND EQUITY BRIEF REPORT

11 YEARS DEDICATED TO THE WELFARE OF THE POOR BY THE MODI GOVT

The Narendra Modi government has dedicated its eleven years in power to service, good governance, and the welfare of the poor. Undoubtedly, when it comes to pro-poor welfare, India has made unprecedented progress in poverty alleviation over the past decade, as confirmed by the recently released World Bank report, Poverty and Equity Brief. This report highlights the positive transformation in India's economic and social landscape, resulting from policy reforms, govt schemes, and Indian govt's commitment to inclusive development.

According to World Bank data, between 2011-12 and 2022-23, India lifted approximately 171 million people out of extreme poverty. During this period, the extreme poverty rate declined from 27.1% to 5.3%. This historic achievement reflects not only India's economic progress but also its strong commitment to social inclusion and prosperity. The report provides insights into poverty reduction, narrowing rural-urban disparities, and the pivotal role of government schemes.
