Parents are the first teachers in a child's life and play a pivotal role in shaping their adult lives. With the advent of the family style where both the parents are at work, this parent-child relationship has also faced a positive and negative impact. There is more disposable income for the parents to spend on their children but less time to engage them effectively.

The effects of both parents working on the children in the modern world are well known and what parents can learn is how to effectively sail through it without affecting their development. A family with two wage earners can be a positive influence on children. Everyone, both children and adults will enjoy some of the benefits. Children will tend to see the world as a less threatening place, knowing that both their parents are succeeding in the workplace; girls, in particular, perceive themselves as having greater career options if they have a mother who works. Our society is just learning to cope with this change of both parents working and that's why psychologists and child development experts are questioning the effects of working parents on their overall development.
