THE SARISKA TIGER RESERVE

- Hemant Singh Dy Director, Department of Information and Public Relations

Where Wilderness BREATHES AGAIN

Tucked away in the ancient folds of the Aravalli Hills, Sariska Tiger Reserve is a pristine sanctuary of wilderness, spread across 1,216 square kilometres. Located just 36.4 km from Alwar along National Highway 248A, Sariska forms a part of India's iconic Golden Triangle—Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra—making it highly accessible for both domestic and international travelers. Whether you arrive via Alwar Railway Station, Jaipur International Airport, or New Delhi's IGI Airport, Sariska is comfortably within reach.

Rising Sariska: A Story of Revival

Declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and later recognized as a Project Tiger Reserve in 1978, Sariska has witnessed one of the most dramatic wildlife recovery stories in modern India. By 2004, the reserve had lost all of its tigers due to rampant poaching—marking a crisis that shook conservation efforts nationwide. This led to the formation of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) in 2006.
