PUNE-BASED UNIVERSITY PLANS TO IGNITE AN ERA OF INTERDISCIPLINARY EDUCATION
IN THE FIELD of Indian liberal education, universities are often judged by their media visibility, among other things. But Pune-based FLAME University's vice-chancellor Prof Dishan Kamdar suggests a different metric for success: institutional capability. In an exclusive conversation, Prof Kamdar shared with FE the university's roadmap, its distinct identity compared to peers like Ashoka and OP Jindal, and the launch of FLAME 2.0.
Rankings
When asked if FLAME has lagged in rankings race - it's not featured in national rankings such as the NIRF, or global rankings such as the QS and THE - Prof Kamdar said the university's absence was a strategic choice, not an oversight.
"Our aim was to build strength from within, prioritising pedagogy over external validation," he said. "This approach has given us the NAAC A++ accreditation. With this benchmark secured, FLAME is poised to participate in national and international rankings."
