Govt to appoint watchdog to track Make in India bids

TO ENSURE STRICT adherence to the Public Procurement (Preference to Make in India) Order (PPP-MII), the government has proposed appointing an external agency to scrutinise tenders issued by central government agencies for compliance with the order.

The agency will assist the Public Procurement Division of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Its role will be to review tenders from central government procuring entities, including central public sector enterprises and autonomous bodies, and submit compliance reports to DPIIT.
