States' Capex Picks Up Marginally in Apr-Feb

AFTER LAGGING SIGNIFICANTLY for most of the year, states' capital expenditure (capex) showed some improvement in April-February. However, overall capex growth in FY25 is still expected to remain flat.
A review of the finances of 16 states by FE found that their capex in April-February of FY25 declined marginally—by nearly 1%—to ₹4.51 lakh crore, compared with ₹4.55 lakh crore in the same period last year.
The states reviewed were Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Haryana, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Assam.
