GIC Re profit jumps 69%

GENERAL INSURANCE CORPORATION of India (GIC Re) on Thursday reported a 69% year-on-year rise in its net profit for the first quarter at ₹1,752.23 crore, supported by higher investment income and lower commission payouts.

The state-run reinsurer's gross premium stood marginally lower at ₹12,388.01 crore, compared with ₹12,405.68 crore in the same period last year. Net premium income remained largely flat at ₹11,635.89 crore. Investment income rose 18
