India's Big 4: PMO forms panel led by MCA secy

IN A MEETING held by Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Friday with senior officials, the government has decided to form a committee headed by corporate affairs secretary Deepti Gaur Mukherjee to examine the policy interventions required, and pave the way to create large Indian advisory firms capable of competing with the Big Four—EY, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Deloitte.

The key agenda of the meeting was to give a push to the PM's vision of creating big advisory firms out of India.

Chaired by Shaktikanta Das, principal secretary to the PM, the meeting saw participation of corporate affairs secretary Mukherjee; Arvind Shrivastava, revenue secretary; M. Nagaraju, secretary at the department of financial services; Ajay Seth, secretary at the department of economic affairs; and Sanjeev Sanyal, member of the economic advisory council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM).
