UK City of Culture title ambition outlined

EXETER has thrown its hat into the ring to become the UK's City of Culture.

The city council announced on Thursday, January 29, that it will be submitting an expression of interest for the title for the year 2029.
Council leader Councillor Phil Bialyk said: “This is a fantastic opportunity. It’s a chance to put Exeter once again on the national and international map.”
Plymouth has already announced its bid for the 2029 title, along with other cities including Bristol, Portsmouth, Ipswich and Wrexham.
The bid follows five months of consultation with artists, creatives, cultural organisations and residents to shape a five-year 'cultural strategy' for the city.
