Walker driven by European heartache as City bid to keep treble hopes alive

KYLE WALKER says Manchester City are using the pain from Champions League defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Tottenham as motivation to go all the way this year
-
City are taking on Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium tonight in the second leg of their semi-final, after drawing 1-1 at the Bernabeu last week.
The Champions League is the one trophy that has eluded Pep Guardiola during his time at City, who are bidding to win a historic treble this season.
City lost the final against Chelsea in 2021 and suffered a dramatic quarter-final defeat by Spurs in 2019, and Walker has revealed those nearmisses are being used as motivation.
"To get to the final against Chelsea in 2021 and not perform, we owe it to ourselves to get revenge, because it was below par that day," he said.
"But we've got a tough opponent to get past [in Real Madrid]. In recent weeks, every game has been a final, anything can happen.
"It's 1-1 and we are at the Etihad, where we've been more than confident in the Champions League to get a result. Hopefully, we do that again.
