It’s named Britain’s happiest place to live fuelled by success of sitcom
THE Ted Lasso factor has helped propel Richmond upon Thames to the top spot in an annual search to find the happiest place to live in Britain.
The Emmy award-winning TV show about an American football coach brought in to manage the fictional AFC Richmond makes extensive use of the borough's riverside location and picturesque streets for filming. Its success has made Richmond a tourist destination for the show's fans - with guided tours and the team's merchandise on sale.
The leafy south-west London borough has now claimed top spot in Rightmove's index, moving up from 11th nationally last year the first time a London location has taken the top spot.
