Son’s hopes of playing in Qatar rest on surgery

HEUNG-MIN SON is set to have surgery in the next 48 hours, once the swelling around his eye socket has subsided, with the South Korea forward's World Cup dream dependent on his recovery.
Tottenham last night confirmed Son would go under the knife to stabilise a fracture around his left eye, sustained in Tuesday's win over Marseille in the Champions League.
Son is all but certain to miss Sunday's visit of Liverpool but his chances of playing for Spurs against Nottingham Forest or Leeds next week, as well as for his country in Qatar, depend on the success of the surgery.
