Renewed fears for retail sector after Eve Sleep falls into administration

FURTHER signs of the scale of disaster facing Britain’s retail sector were laid bare today as ailing mattress business Eve Sleep plunged into administration.
RETAIL
The Camden-based firm had put itself up for sale earlier in the year, but said failed fundraising efforts had forced the company to appoint administrators after it was unable to withstand “the economic tsunami that has gathered momentum”.
The “sleep wellness” brand’s collapse intensified pressure on beleaguered furniture business Made.com as it warned there was “no certainty that an offer will be made” after putting itself up for sale earlier this month.
The “big ticket” furnishing sector has been particularly badly ravaged by the tightening of consumer purse-strings as a result of the cost of living crisis.
