Hague hails Lord Lawson as 'iconic Tory chancellor' after death at 91

LORD LAWSON, who has died at the age of 91, was hailed today as the "iconic Tory chancellor" by ex-party leader William Hague.
Revered by Conservative politicians on the Right of the party, Lord Lawson was one of the most influential figures in Margaret Thatcher's government in the Eighties, ushering in a series of free-market reforms which transformed Britain's economy. But his support for Brexit and scepticism on man-made climate change made him a controversial figure in later life.
