CHELSEA v SOUTHAMPTON (Tomorrow 3pm)

- Nizaar Kinsella

Bit-part role for Mason as tensions mount over star's future

MASON MOUNT faces a fight to get back into Chelsea’s team while uncertainty grows around his long-term future.

The 24-year-old grew up supporting Portsmouth and is usually one of the protagonists going into a match against his childhood team’s fiercest rivals Southampton, who arrive at Stamford Bridge tomorrow afternoon.

Normally, the midfielder is the pantomime villain for the travelling away support, certain to be booed.

However, Graham Potter is now increasingly likely to leave out the Cobham graduate, who has not started the past two matches as he accommodates January signings Joao Felix and Enzo Fernandez in a new system.

Chelsea could keep a settled team, having been satisfied with their performance in a 1-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League last-16 first leg on Wednesday.
