Saving money tops reasons for taking part

Saving money is now the top reason for drinkers in the UK to try to tackle Dry January, a charity has said.

Wealth as opposed to health is a key concern among drinkers as 17.5 million people say they're taking a 31-day break from alcohol, according to Alcohol Change UK.

Saving money was the top motivator for 21 per cent of adults, improving health was stated by 20 per cent while losing weight was the main reason for 15 per cent of drinkers.
