DUMFRIESSHIRE FEDERATION SWI

A summer of fun for Dumfriesshire SWI's

The October meeting of Dumfriesshire Federation SWI began with a welcome to the 24 institutes and members.

Apologies were given and the minutes were approved after a minor amendment. Chairperson Mima Telfer thanked the judges who had attended various shows over the summer including the Stewartry and Biggar Shows.

The correspondence had been previously sent out to delegates by email and Mima then gave a resume of the membership levies. Central office receives £33, Dumfriesshire Federation £4, which are due in April.

The subcommittee had worked to complete the new constitution for Dumfriesshire Federation.

Draft copies of this had been sent out to institutes for consultation.

After answering a few questions from delegates, Mima proposed that an EGM be held at 10.30am on December 6, just before the December meeting to formally adopt the new constitution. This was agreed by delegates.

It was brought to attention that individual institutes revise their own constitutions. A template will be sent out to aid with this.

Norma Rae, vice-chairperson read the report of the Federation Show held in May earlier in the year.

The number of entries were slightly higher than previous shows with an increase in Housewives classes submitted by 82 members.

The show made a surplus which was due mainly to grants which had been received and the Race Night.

The next show is scheduled for October, 2027.

There are several social events coming up, including the Quiz Night on November 7 at Dumfries High School at 7pm and an air fryer demonstration on November 15 at Heathhall Community Centre.
