£50k study would help bring 'eyesore' building back to life

Plans to kickstart the regeneration of an "eyesore" derelict factory site will be discussed at a full council meeting on December 11.

Councillors will be asked to approve a cost of £50,000 to commission a study to explore potential future uses for former Interfloor factory at Heathhall.

The category Blisted early-20th-century industrial building has stood empty for over a decade.

Local residents and representatives have voiced concern about the site's state and have urged action to address safety issues.

Although the council does not own the site, it has engaged with interested parties including Historic Environment Scotland and potential developers, in a bid to regenerate it.

The company that formerly owned the site, DCR DG1 Limited, has now been dissolved, meaning that the factory has fallen into the hands of the Crown.
