WORKING parents in South Derbyshire are encouraged to apply for 30 hours of funded childcare.

Eligible working families can apply for the hours from the term after their baby turns nine-months-old until they reach school age.

The 30 hours has been increased from the previous 15 hours and parents need to apply before the deadline of Sunday, August 31 to begin using funded hours in the September autumn term.

The 30 hours offer is the final phase of the national childcare expansion programme which the government estimates could save some families up to £7,500 per year.
