CAR PARKING, TRAFFIC CHAOS AND SIGNAGE WERE RAISED AS ONGOING CONCERNS AT PUBLIC MEETING
THE chair of the Ashbourne Reborn project has said “disruption is unavoidable” after concerns were raised at a public meeting.
A number of concerns have been raised about the ongoing regeneration of the town centre, particularly around car parking, traffic and signage.
Ashbourne Reborn is a £15.9m programme aimed at transforming Ashbourne town centre through significant improvements to highways and public realm and the development of the Link Community Hub - due for completion in December.
Previous concerns said feedback from businesses has identified disruption from Ashbourne Reborn is adding to the challenges currently faced by businesses.
In a post on social media, the council said the update was delayed due to the county council elections, but did admit work had begun on concerns raised immediately after the meeting.
Cllr David Hughes, chair of the Programme of the Board, said it’s important to remember that the Ashbourne Reborn proposals originated from businesses and community groups within the town before responding to concerns.
He added: “As chair of the Ashbourne Reborn Programme Board I would like to thank the Ashbourne residents and business operators for the questions they submitted ahead of our recent board meeting, and for their presence and contributions at the meeting itself.
