DECISION WILL BE MADE IN SEPTEMBER ON WHETHER EDUCATION PLAN CAN PROGRESS

- By NIGEL SLATER Local democracy reporter

A BIG decision is set to be made on whether a new school for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Derby can go-ahead.

Earlier this year Derby City Council submitted plans to turn part of St James House off Mansfield Road into a new educational establishment for children with learning difficulties.

It is hoped the upper floors of the building will be able to accommodate about 100 SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) pupils in the long term with demand for places currently high around the city.
