MENSE in Steenberg are taking their community back by speaking up amid a deadly conflict between Junky Funky Kids gang members.
A flare-up of deadly shootings has hit the southern suburbs, leaving mense in Steenberg, Retreat and Lavender Hill under siege.
Another murder was reported on Wednesday after an alleged gang member was gunned in 12th Avenue in Retreat.
According to police, the 26-year-old victim was standing in the road when a red vehicle stopped next to him and opened fire, killing him at the scene.
