Metro police officer, 30, falls to his death in the line of duty after hunting down robbers

TRAGEDY: Father and husband Tyler Lamb, 30, fell to his death

CAPE Town was rocked by the news of young Metro Police Neighbourhood Safety officer Tyler Lamb's tragic passing in the line of duty on Friday.

The incident took place in Kensington when the 30-year-old father of one was chasing after suspects following a business robbery in 8th Avenue. Lamb chased the suspects across a roof and he fell to his death during a scuffle.

Lamb was transferred to a medical facility where he was declared dead. Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed that two suspects have been arrested and will appear in court once they have been charged.

Twigg said: "Kensington police registered murder, attempted murder, robbery and possession of ammunition cases for investigation following a robbery in a parking area of a business premises in 8th Avenue, Kensington on Friday, 7 November 2025, at about 12pm.
