MURDER MYSTERIES FROM ISLES

The real deaths in paradise

WHAT THE SCOT! The first serial killer in Jamaica's history was Scottish-born Lewis Hutchinson, who was a slave owner. Nicknamed the "Mad Doctor" he shot innocent people who stopped to rest at his estate called Edinburgh Castle. Guests actually invited for dinner at his pad didn't fare much better - he would bump them off, drink their blood then throw the corpses into a sinkhole for animals to take care of the evidence.

LEICESTER'S LOSS: In 2022, Leicester-born Tyrone Baptiste, 65, and his Dutch wife Pia, 60, the general manager of tour firm Tropical Adventures Antigua for 30 years, were found dead at home from gunshot wounds in Golden Grove, Antigua. Tyrone had also been stabbed in what was considered to be a botched robbery.
