Pledge to send £5m in funding

THE UK will provide an extra £5million in emergency aid to help the Caribbean recovery from Hurricane Melissa, which has battered Jamaica, Cuba and other islands.

It follows the £2.5m already announced, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said.

The cash will buy supplies such as shelter kits for those whose homes have been ruined or left without power.
