MITCHELL ENJOYS 'MIRACLE' RETURN

MITCHELL SMITH celebrated as if he had won a world title before hailing his "miraculous" return to the ring.

At one time the best young boxer in the country, lightweight Smith hit rock bottom after serving three prison terms and ballooning to 19 stone after a battle with drink and drug addictions.

But he made the most of his return on the undercard of Fabio Wardley's stoppage win over Joseph Parker by outpointing the previously unbeaten Arnie Dawson to win a fringe European title.

"In my eyes I've won a world title," he said.
