CALL The Midwife's boss Heidi Thomas has snubbed big-money deals to make shows for streaming services.

The writer wants to keep working with the BBC because she thinks the corporation is top notch.

She said: "I get wonderful opportunities from streamers constantly. But doing Call The Midwife for the BBC is the best opportunity I have ever had.

"Why would I give it up for something that is a shot in the dark?
