WOLVES are ready to fight off Manchester United's advances for Joao Gomes.

A new midfielder is top of Ruben Amorim’ transfer wish list when the January window opens, with the United boss hoping to strengthen and bolster the clubs Champions League hopes.

United are unbeaten in five Premier League matches, their best run under Amorim since his appointment 12 months ago, and there is real belief at Old Trafford that they can return to European football's top table next term.
