MANCHESTER UNITED boss Erik ten Hag is facing a crisis at left back for the remainder of the season. 

And the news will do little to boost his chances of securing Champions League qualification to save his job at Old Trafford.

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are not expected to return to action following respective muscle and knee problems.

To make matters worse, Ten Hag has allowed Sergio Reguilon to cut short his loan spell with United and go back to Tottenham after the club’s medical staff assured him Shaw and Malacia would be fit.

The United boss is under increasing pressure to salvage something from a woeful season.

He said: “In December I had talks, internally, with medical and performance. They assured me they would both be fit in January, and so you will have two left full-backs.
