The British No.1 raced to a 6-2 6-2 2-1 lead against Sebastian Baez before the Argentine retired with a leg injury.

The world No.4 is the great home hope in an event where 10 British players have reached the second round - the joint highest this century - while seven men through equals the Open era record. But Draper shrugged off the pressure of expectation and claimed: "I don't think about it until people mention it every five minutes.
