LORD Michael Gove reckons the Daily Star would have mocked him up as a cucumber if he'd become Prime Minister - because he's a “cool” Conservative.

The scandal-dogged ex-Education Secretary, who twice failed to land the top job at No10, told us about his salad ambition at the Tory party conference in Manchester.

Ex-MP Gove's comments come after Lis Truss, left, was famously outlasted by our lettuce.
