Robson Green on relishing his role in new thriller The Game and his joy at reuniting with co-star Jason Watkins

'I'M ADDICTED TO TRUE CRIME'

Set in Spain's Basque Country, tense four-part psychological thriller The Game tells the story of a retired police detective who is still tormented by the case he never cracked.

The gripping new series reunites former Being Human co-stars Jason Watkins and Robson Green.

Robson, 60, who has thrilled viewers over the years in TV shows from Soldier Soldier to Grantchester, and even enjoyed a 90s pop career with his pal Jerome Flynn, reveals he suffered from crippling imposter syndrome on set.

"I suffer from anticipatory fear," he says. "I project as an actor. I have an image of how things should be and I work things out in my head."

But once the camera starts rolling, he finds it all falls into place.

"Suddenly, you're there and all of that worry goes because your theatre training kicks in," he explains.

Like Robson, Jason, 62, is an actor who has enjoyed a long career filled with standout roles, including Harold Wilson in The Crown and DS Dodds in McDonald & Dodds.

In The Game, his character, retired detective Huw Miller, cannot move on from the case he failed to solve - the Ripton Stalker.
