Howe assures restless fans his side are up for a battle

EDDIE HOWE insisted Newcastle are "fighting" to turn their season around as he played down the club's ambitions of winning the Premier League by 2030.
The Magpies' run of just one win in their past seven matches has seen them drop into the bottom half of the table and end their Carabao Cup defence, following Wednesday's 5-1 aggregate defeat by Manchester City.
Newcastle's only victory in that period came against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, where strong displays have at least provided an antidote to their domestic form.
With their FA Cup hopes still alive, there is plenty for the Toon to look forward to, but there are sections of Newcastle fans protesting about Howe's management of the team and those who say he has taken the Magpies as far as they can go.
The head coach said: "I am pleased I am not on social media if it is heated. My message is that we are fighting - and I think that you can see that on the pitch. The players are giving me everything.
