Bromley light up St James' Park as old boy Woodman's side give Toon an almighty scare

FA CUP magic blended with the cold realities of modernday football as Bromley bowed out of the competition with heads held high.
Though Saudi-rich Newcastle, with hundreds of millions of pounds worth of talent on the pitch at the final whistle, ultimately ran out deserved winners, victory was not without an almighty scare.
Bromley boss Andy Woodman (above) once co-wrote a book with his best mate, ex-England chief Gareth Southate.

The former Newcastle goalkeeping coach enjoyed some good times on Tyneside but none better than the eighth minute here when Cameron Congreve etched his name into Bromley folklore.
His goal was a thing of beauty, twisting, turning and outwitting three opponents before curling a dipping shot from outside the area past Martin Dubravka. Even when Lewis Miley levelled, Woody's workhorses refused to buckle, though there was an inevitability about the outcome once sub Anthony Gordon's successful spot-kick four minutes into the second half eased home nerves.
