Matt's fought his back way from the doldrums

MATT FITZPATRICK admitted he struggled to see a way out of his drastic drop in form which left him at an “all-time low”.

The 2022 US Open champion enjoyed a remarkable rise after bursting onto the scene as an amateur more than a decade ago.

His triumph at Brookline seven years after claiming his first win on the professional circuit propelled the Sheffield-born star to a career-best sixth in the world rankings at just 28.

But then the wheels slowly began to come off as a rough 2024 saw Fitzpatrick’s ranking plummet to 75th after last year's Masters, through a period where he was even beginning to question himself.

“T just didn’t have it,’ he said. “I'd put in a tonne of work, my coaches had put in so much work and it just didn’t happen.
