FEAR OMBUDSMAN MAY BE ECLIPSED

OMBUDSMAN might have to improve again to win Saturday's Coral-Eclipse Stakes, according to co-trainer Thady Gosden.

The Prince of Wales's Stakes winner hardened to 6-4 favourite (from 13-8) in the race sponsor's market yesterday to prevail in the ever-popular clash of generations at Sandown. And Gosden (left), who trains in partnership with father John, said the 1m2f race was a natural target for the once-defeated Godolphin-owned colt but conceded it could be a 'very hot' race.

"It's the first meeting of the generations," he said. "The three-year-olds look very good, you've got a French Derby winner in there (Camille Pissarro), some serious three-year-olds.
