DAN'S GROUND WARNING FOR GREY DAWNING

GREY DAWNING will miss the Cotswold Chase if the ground at Cheltenham today is "really heavy", his trainer Dan Skelton cautioned yesterday.

Grey Dawning, ridden by Skelton’s brother Harry, made a winning return to action in the Betfair Chase at Haydock Park and the trainer added: “He's in good physical condition to run as well as he can but I do think there is just a little bit more to come.”

The nine-year-old grey, a 14-1 chance with William Hill for the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup on March 13, is a hot favourite for this afternoon’s Grade Two trial.
