Burn happy to play in nets to achieve World Cup goal

DAN BURN has told Thomas Tuchel he would be prepared to play in goal for England if it allowed him to keep his World Cup dream alive.

The 33-year-old shrugged off a broken hand to take his place on the bench on Thursday against Wales and has put himself forward for selection in Riga against Latvia in Tuesday's qualifier.

Burn has been playing at left-back and centre-back for Newcastle and is keen to add to his three caps for the Three Lions.

When asked if he cares where he plays, Burn said: “I will play goalkeeper if the manager asks!

“I just want to be on the pitch, I have waited so long to be an England player, I just want to make the most of it.
