BLOOD-soaked Christopher York was 1mm from death after cutting his own neck with a chainsaw.

The dad-of-four, 65, lost two litres of blood when the blade ripped a 2in gash under his chin as he trimmed hedges in Chesterfield, Derbys.

It missed severing his jugular vein by 1mm. Surgeon Gary Hicken said: “If he had fallen a little bit harder or ever so slightly lower... he would have bled to death at the scene.”
