Nuno feeling heat as Bees Hammer big dent in survival bid

SELF DESTRUCT: Mavropanos pokes into his own net under Kayode challenge HITTING THE SPOT: Thiago slots home penalty

IT IS days like these that make you believe your number is up.

West Ham's Premier League future is now out of their own hands after this demoralising defeat.

They will be wondering how it came to this after hitting the woodwork three times and scoring the opening goal of the game.

Both teams are now looking for Aston Villa to do them a favour, while Brentford's first win in seven games took them up to sixth, which could be good enough for the Champions League if Villa win the Europa League and finish fifth.

Nuno Espirito Santos side will drop back into the bottom three tonight if Tottenham win at Villa Park.

The Hammers went through the full range of emotions in a first-half that could have ended goalless with Brentford down to 10 men, or just as easily a 5-5 scoreline.

The Brentford PA hailed Michael Kayode as scorer of the 15th-minute opener. But replays showed the Bees' right-back never touched the ball.
