Dyche: My Forest goal was to avoid chop after 39 days

MOVING away from trouble in the Premier League and making progress in Europe were clear aims for Sean Dyche when he was appointed Nottingham Forest boss in October.

But the 54-year-old had another goal in mind - and he is more than happy to have been able to tick it off.

Ange Postecoglou had lasted just 39 days in the job in what proved to be a disastrous tenure, and Dyche was keen to avoid the same fate.

Exactly two months on from his arrival at the City Ground, he is still in situ.

Asked about his targets back then, Dyche said: “To make more than 39 days, I think I did say that! At least when I made my 40th day I thought, ‘Right, okay’.”

Not only has Dyche outlasted his predecessor, he has steadied the ship.
