WARNING OVER SYNTHETIC OPIOIDS

SCOTLAND faces a rise in synthetic opioid use that “could resemble America's fentanyl crisis" if it is not acted upon urgently, Labour has warned.

Scottish Ambulance Service figures showed more than one dose of naloxone - to counter an overdose - has been given by paramedics across the country on 6156 occasions since 2022. Evidence shows synthetic opioids are more resistant to naloxone.
