Sutton cannot recall a worse window & fears it could be back to Deila days with top deck shut Hoops hero says club have left title door ajar and they should be burying Gers with mess they're in

THE transfer window slammed shut but Chris Sutton insists Celtic's shopping shambles has opened the door in the title race.

And the Hoops legend is convinced fan fury could shut the Parkhead top tier for the Europa League.

Sutton admits he's been left stunned at the summer bungling in the transfer market.

Boss Brendan Rodgers failed to get the two striker targets he demanded with Adam Idah being allowed to leave for Swansea City.

Celts did capture £5.2million wideman Sebastian Tounekti on deadline day to add to £5m Michel-Ange Balikwisha the previous week.

But the Premiership champs still look short on the wings with Jota out until the new year and the side now relying on 34-year-old James Forrest plus Yang Hyun-jun, who was blocked from moving to Birmingham.

Sutton has been left scratching his head after expecting Celtic to build on their Champions League success last season when reaching the knockout stages and going within seconds of taking big guns Bayern Munich to extra-time.

Instead, the Parkhead club struggled to land a blockbuster replacement for Nicolas Kuhn and still have not snapped up a striker to fill Kyogo Furuhashi's boots following his departure in January.

Idah’s exit for England's second tier 12 months on from signing a five-year deal has only compounded problems up top.
