Give Hampden heroes freedom of Paisley says proud Robbo

- SCOTT BURNS

ECSTATIC Stephen Robinson last night called for his St Mirren Hampden heroes to be given the freedom of Paisley.

The Buddies boss was in dreamland after his team dismantled Celtic to land the Premier Sports Cup in stunning style and write their names into the club's history.

They upset the odds and Wilfried Nancy's Celtic to lift the League Cup for only the second time.

Jonah Ayunga bagged a double after Marcus Fraser's opener and Robinson believes his men will now be assured of legendary status after they delivered St Mirren's fifth major trophy.

Robinson joked he already has VIP access at a local nightclub and added: "I think I've got the freedom of Vienna's, I know that.

I've got that on a poster, I've got lifetime membership and my younger boy's devastated because he wants it.

"Look, I'm humbled with things like that, when you see banners, when you see the fans' reaction, I'm absolutely humbled.

"I don't really seek a lot of attention in life, I'm quite happy for my players to have it - they're the ones that go into the arena, they're the ones that have got to go in and put their bodies on the line, take the information on board, carry that out.
