Told I did not have the fame

SOAP star Balvinder Sopal was also told by her agent not to take part in Strictly Come Dancing - but for different reasons.

For the actor, who has played Albert Square's Suki Panesar since 2020, it was because at the time she was not famous enough, working on radio soap opera Silver Street.

She said: "I called my agent in 2004 and said, 'I work for BBC Asian network, can you speak to Strictly?'.
