Thief opened my mum's ashes as he trashed house

A SICK thief broke into a dead pensioner's home before ransacking the property and rummaging through her ashes.

Grieving daughter Lanna McDonald, 55, has been left feeling violated after the break-in happened at her mum's home in Bathgate, West Lothian.

Lanna's mum, Catherine Hughes, died from breast cancer aged 76 in July and the grieving family were still too upset to clear out the home before it was targeted.
