Prince is overcome with emotion as suicide victim's widow tells of her devastation

- BY JENNIFER NEWTON

PRINCE William broke down in tears during an emotional chat with a mum whose husband took his own life after their son died.

The royal was speaking to Rhian Mannings about the devastating impact of suicide on family and friends.

He was overcome as she told him about husband Paul who died five days after one-year-old George passed away due to a hidden illness in 2012.

Talking about the unanswered questions that often surround suicide, Rhian said she will “forever go over those last few days with him wondering what I missed”.

She added: “Before we lost George, we were just so happy. And I think this just shows, this can happen to anyone.”

William asked Rhian if she wanted to say something to Paul, what would it be. She told him: “There’s only one thing I would have ever said and that would be, why didn’t you speak to me? I ask myself that every single day.

“He was absolutely devastated, he did keep blaming himself that weekend [after George's death], but I would just like to sit him down like this and say why didn’t you come to me.
