Centurion skipper a picture of contentment but desperate to ensure Gers stay in the title frame

THERE'S a picture of a jubilant James Tavernier to go with every one of the ton-up Rangers skipper's century of league goals.

But flick through the Ibrox archives and you'll find there has been almost as many images captured of the captain looking crestfallen down the years.

The Gers support had no shortage of those dejected snapshots to pick from earlier this season as the Ibrox side appeared to have lost all sense of their title focus.

But it's the fact Gers have worked so hard to put themselves back into the frame for silverware this term that means Tavernier has been reinvigorated with a new determination to keep his team's concentration levels zoomed in on their trophy targets.

The veteran defender played his part at the weekend as he slammed home his landmark 100th SPFL goal to hand Gers the crucial opener against Dundee.

The 3-0 win for Danny Rohl's side has cropped Hearts Premiership advantage back to just four points - having been a hefty 13 behind only three months ago.

It might not have been a pictureperfect display against the Dark Blues at Ibrox.

But Tavernier doesn't care about how the points are won so long as they lead to his side posing on the Premiership podium come May.
