JIMMY THELIN leaves Aberdeen knowing his name will be forever etched in the club's history.

Regardless of how things ended, the Swede will always be remembered for taking the Scottish Cup back to the Granite City for the first time in 35 years.

May 24, 2025 brought scenes of unbridled joy for the long-suffering Red Army and then 24 hours later Aberdeen was turned into a sea of red and white as Jimmy and his heroes made it a happy home coming on their open-top bus parade.

There was also the byproduct of that win, which guaranteed European group stage football.

The Swede can walk away, knowing his time at Aberdeen with those two major achievements will have enhanced his CV.

He won't have any issues walking back into another decent job in Scandinavia, although I am sure he would prefer a crack at another European league outside of that region.
