So, was rushed opening of sick hospital truly worth it?

“WAS it worth it?”
-
Four words asked by Anas Sarwar at FMQs, which John Swinney failed to answer. The “it” in this case being the political pressure that appears to have been put on the Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board to open the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, in spite of concerns that it would not be safe to do so.
With issues surrounding safety of the ventilation and water systems, this hospital should never have opened until they were resolved.
The most vulnerable patients were put at risk, all for the sake of a headline ahead of a general election.
What ultimately happened is that patients got sick and died.
Children who may have overcome their cancer succumbed to preventable infections.
Grieving and worried parents have been lied to, whistleblowers have been treated abominably and, in my opinion, patients were put at risk just so certain politicians could open a hospital weeks before an election.
The SNP went from six seats to 56 at Westminster in that general election. I fear the answer they may give behind closed doors to the question of whether it was worth it would be “yes”.
Utterly despicable.
